Brownies: New Healthy Style

I’m currently at my parents house with a bunch of Bears super-fans! Which means everyone is screaming and yelling at the television.

I, on the other hand, am drinking a Synergy Kombucha and eating some healthified brownies. It’s been a while since I had a Kombucha and I forgot how delish they are! If they weren’t so pricey, I’d have one every day!

The healthified brownies are all thanks to Swanson Health Products.

Simply Organic Cocoa Brownie Mix

Simply Organic Cocoa Brownie Mix is built around great-tasting Fair Trade Certified organic cocoa. While many brownies hide blasé cocoa behind oil, artificial flavorings and additives, our brownie mix is all natural, plain and simple. After you taste the cocoa-richness of our gluten free brownie, you won’t settle for anything less.

The Stats:

This brownie mix sounds pretty great, no?

Of course, I didn’t follow the package directions. I added my own “New Healthy” twist!

New Healthy Cocoa Brownies

  • 1 package Simply Organic Cocoa Brownie Mix
  • 1/8 C. Amazing Grass Chocolate Super food (also from Swanson!)
  • 1/8 C. ground flax
  • 1 C. organic pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 C. coconut milk
  • 1/2 C. chocolate chips

Mix all the ingredients together and then fold in the chocolate chips.

Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes (or until a butter knife comes out clean).

Of course, I had to taste test them. More than once.

I topped a warm-outta-the-oven brownie with almond butter and cinnamon.

These were so delicious! They were sweet without being overly rich and the texture was absolutely perfect. Moist and gooey!

Adam wasn’t too keen on them, but he had just had cake at a birthday party! Healthy brownies after a full-sugar, full-fat cake? I get it.

The rest of the family thought they were good though! I’m pretty certain I’ll be heading home with an empty pan.

Anthony from Swanson Health was great to work with!

Well, just as I was about to publish this post: the Bears lost! I’m not a super fan, but it would have been fun to see the Bears play in the super bowl! What a bummer!

Have a fab Sunday evening!
