Dinner and da Bulls!

Last night was super fun! Sam and I headed into the city (Chicago) to have an early dinner and go to the Bulls game! Sam’s office has season tickets, so we’ll probably be going to a lot of games over the next few months (or however long the season lasts).

Of course we had snacks for the car. It’s only about a 30 minute drive—but we had an early lunch. And we just like food.

We ate dinner at Grand Lux CafĂ©—which is an old favorite of ours! The food, service, and atmosphere are all great!

My dining companion:

We started with the homemade hummus and flatbread. To die for!

We shared a mint mojito and a Hawaiian smoothie.

Mr. New Healthy and I clearly love the thumbs up. So does New Healthy, Jr.

Crusty wheat bread, no words necessary.

For my meal, I rolled with the:

Manhattan Salad
A Chopped Salad with Romaine Lettuce, Asparagus, Tomato, White Beans, Fresh Beets, Red Onion, Peas, Lentils and Assorted Vegetables all Tossed in Our House Vinaigrette.

Instead of dressing, I used the leftover hummus to top my salad. It was perfect.

I was pretty excited when I saw a Trader Joe’s almost directly across from Grand Lux. Yay! We had a 30 minute wait for our table, so I ran over there in the 15 degree weather to grab a few goodies. But, it was closed! Boo! I need to head back into the city for some grocery shopping. <—haha I’m a loser.

We were both stuffed from dinner, so we got dessert to-go—a humongous piece of carrot cake. We ate it in the car on the way home—and it was delish!

Hey there, nosebleed section!

I started this morning off with a toasted Arnold thin topped with almond butter & a sliced banana. An iced coffee satisfied my caffeine addiction.

I want to leave you with the crazy cute music video that Adam and my little sister made while we were at the game last night.

It’s so cute that I was able to ignore the whole “get drunk on diet mountain dew + f-word thing.” You have to choose your battles.

Note: you may have to click on the video to watch. (it will take you to YouTube)

Courtney’s pretty awesome at editing, no?

Have a great day loves!

Love the video!

The hummus and THAT SALAD look so fabulous. I might have to try and recreate it. I love salads that have lots of good stuff on them...

Sounds like you had a fun time.

Awww, what beautiful pictures of you two! Your date is something ;)

I love going to live games! Since Vancouver no longer has a bball team, we always hit up the Hockey games here and I love the energy and vibe in the stadium!

What an amazing looking dinner and please pass me one of these drinks ;)

@Kris | iheartwellness.com Thanks Kris! :)

I've never been to a hockey game, but I've heard they're the best live games to watch!

@Cynthia You must try hummus on a salad--I can't eat it any other way these days!

At home, I mix hummus and salsa for my salad dressing! Soo good! :)
